Meister’s Message About Jobs is a Winner

December 14, 2009

Jacob Meister’s first political TV ad in the Chicago area, which aired Sunday just before halftime of the Bears-Packers game, scored high with viewers.

In the ad, “A Voice for Illinois: Economy,” Meister, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, said, “Let’s stop exporting jobs and punish companies that do.”

“Love to hear a candidate talk about jobs,” said one Bears fan.

“He has my vote because of what he said about jobs,” said another. “If he can do what he says about jobs, great. I’m unemployed. He seemed normal and down-to-earth. My husband will like him, too, because he hates politicians and Meister does not seem like a politician.”

Meister took his jobs message to one of the most engaged and lively audiences: Bears fans.

“Sundays mean football,” Meister said. “Some candidates have blanketed TV with more spots than on a Dalmatian. But we played it smart and went where the fans are. This is a statewide campaign and the Chicago Bears have fans throughout Illinois. Where better on a Sunday afternoon to introduce my candidacy than to voters in their living rooms?”

The ad reached an estimated 1.2 million viewers throughout the Chicago area. The campaign also purchased spots on FOX affiliates in Rockford, Peoria and Champaign.

Some people who saw the commercial commented on what they called “the nerd factor.”

“Jacob comes off as a bit of a nerd, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing,” said one person.

Another suggested: “Ditch the glasses. They remind me of my high school librarian; the only thing missing is the chain she used to clip them on.

“But I thought it was nice he didn’t bash his opponents,” he added.

Let’s stop exporting jobs and punish companies that do. I’ve saved workers pensions and fought health insurance companies that refused to pay valid claims. I know how to create new, sustainable, and secure jobs. Learn more about my campaign at Meister for Senate-dot-com.
