Meister Releases '32 Hours with Team Meister'
November 18, 2009
Jacob Meister, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, continued listening to voters throughout the state and shared his travels in the YouTube video, “32 Hours with Team Meister.”
“If your campaign doesn’t begin and end with the people who you want to represent, then you have to re-examine your priorities,” Meister said. “I’m not a Chicago-centric candidate. I realize there are 101 counties outside of Cook, and if you expect to be a voice for the people, you first need to meet them, listen to them, and visit them where they work and live.”
The Meister campaign is the only campaign vying for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate that has opened offices outside the Chicago metropolitan area. Meister’s trip Wednesday, Nov. 11 and Thursday, Nov. 12, included a meeting at the Denny’s in Bloomington, an office opening and meet-and-greet in Champaign, a press conference in Springfield, a meet-and-greet and office opening in Peoria, and a last-minute trip to the Laborer’s Hall in Rock Island for a candidate forum, to which Meister was the only U.S. Senate candidate who attended.
“Our campaign is about people, it’s about jobs and fighting to return prosperity and opportunity to Illinois,” Meister said. “Our field offices are more than a way to get our message out; we view them as a real opportunity to hear what the people of Illinois are saying. No matter where we go, time and again the first priority spoken by voters is jobs.”
The trip included Meister’s release of his 20/20 Vision, a clear strategy to create jobs and rebuild Illinois’ and the American economy through innovation, improved educational infrastructure and the revitalization of manufacturing to establish the United States as a global leader in the research, development and production of alternative energy technologies, green infrastructure systems.
