Meister Unveils 20/20 Vision
November 12, 2009
(Springfield, IL) — Jacob Meister, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, unveiled his V20/20 Vision Thursday, Nov. 12 which puts Illinoisans’ concerns front and center and focuses on the creation of financially secure and sustainable jobs.
“This election is about jobs and the economy that creates those jobs,” Meister said. “The United States has to regain its footing as the leading producer and net exporter of material goods.”
Vision 20/20 is a plan of action to:
- create jobs by revitalizing Illinois manufacturing
- reshape the educational infrastructure to prepare people for jobs at all levels of advanced manufacturing and ensure the United States’ global competitive edge
- nurture green industries whose products reduce our dependence on foreign oil and protect our environment
- implement forward-looking environmental solutions
- re-regulate the banking and securities industries to protect the public interest while respecting the free market
“I have been listening to people all over Illinois,” Meister said. “Whether employed or unemployed, prosperous or struggling, working in financial markets or supermarkets – everyone is nervous to the core about the state of the economy and our future.
“I recognize their fears and know that as their next senator I can use my experience to implement solutions that will solve the problems of today and ensure prosperity and stability for tomorrow.”
